The aerial photo above, taken on August 28, shows the Xiaodukou Pumping Station (the high-rise part of the building that spans the river) and its sluice gates in Xiaodukou Town, Lixian County. The Xiaodukou Pumping Station was tested for drainage on the same day. The construction of the pumping station started in October 2019. It is currently the largest of its kind in Hunan Province. The pumping station is designed to discharge a flow of 294 cubic meters per second, with six generators and an installed capacity of 20,700 kilowatts. After put into operation, it can benefit Lixian County, Jinshi City, Linli County, and the Cendan Farm, covering a protection area of 785 square kilometers. (Photo/Bo Yipu and Xiao Lihua)
